The QBFL follows the same rules as the CFL. With some small additions.
The additions are used to help our kids grow and become better athelets. The QBFL rule
additions are:
- 4 down football
- Must have 1 pass within the first 3 downs
- Forward Pass- hand/ball must be above the shoulder, does not need to cross the LOS and must go in front of the QB to be classified as a forward pass.
- Failure to pass the ball in 3 downs results in a 5yrd. penalty and loss of down
- In a pass situation, if the QB has not thrown the ball and is sacked, there is the option
to take the loss of down and the total yards of the sack.
- You do not have to pass in the Red Zone, which is now 15 yards in & out
- With regards to an inadvertent whistle - On a play in which time has expired, add time to the 2nd,
4th or overtime periods to allow for one additional down.
- Equipment should not be allowed which enhances a player's natural talent. Any gloves which have
any type of webbing between the digits are illegal
- Tinted visors are illegal unless medical certification is presented. It is the responsibility of
the Head Coach to present a verified medical certificate to the League or game referee prior to a player being
permitted to wear a tinted visor. Only clear visors are acceptable.
- Helmet head sets are only permitted for the QBs, the Defensive captain and his secondary. All
communication MUST cease with the break of the huddle
- On a punt 5yrds. must be given to the ball, if a player is within these 5yrds it is a 5yrd
pentalty. Should a player be within 1yrd. of the ball, this will result in a 15yrd. penalty
